purchased a domain but then cancelled…

  i had purchased a package with a domain but then decided to cancel my subscription and be refunded.

  i was wondering if the domain was going to be freed up or owned by wordpress for a year still.

  So will i be able to recover the domain name and register with an other registrar or do i need to transfer? (from the other hoster, it asks me for a transfer code but i cannot manage the domain in my wordpress acc anymore)

  Hi there,

  Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. You should never cancel a domain that you still want to use, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to use it again somewhere else in future.

  Are you speaking of tech-geek.net?

  It looks like that domain should be released by the end of the week, at which point you should be able to register it somewhere else.
