Purchasing a Custom Domain with a Naira Denominated Debit Card

  Hi WordPress Support
  I want to purchase or register a custom domain for my blog, timelessbits.wordpress.com.
  I’m currently resident in Nigeria and was trying to use a Naira denominated Master Card to make the payment but this transaction was declined.
  How do I effect this transaction?

  Purchase can only be made by major credit cards or PayPal – the problem for you is that PayPal is the processor of the payments and they don’t accept transactions from some countries due to fraud problems in those countries – I think Nigeria is one of those countries – probably the only work around is if you have a friend or relative that lives in a country that is accepted and have them make the purchase on your behalf

  Sorry could not be of more help

  I have suggested that they allow transactions from “banned” countries – after all the amounts are small and it’s not like they are shipping big screen TV’s or computers overseas – and that maybe they change the refund process to prevent someone from buying an upgrade then with a fraudulent card and getting a refund a few hour later – maybe make the time frame on refunds longer to credit your account or something – but the staff responded with a “not straight forward and easy to address”
