Purging Storage

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

Dashboard->Storage says I’m using 2,1Mb when I only have two pictures less than 0.5Mb in size. I have been playing with the blog previously, adding some pics but now I have deleted all those, emptied trash can, but something still remains…

I wonder if this is normal condition, how can I purge the deleted stuff, or is it what WordPress.com does automatically as some kind of cron job?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Deleting pictures doesn’t free up more space. It’s also not a good practice. Every so often some social media snake oil salesperson tells everyone to delete all their pictures to “free up space” in their blogs, but it doesn’t work at all and isn’t necessary. If you run out of space, just register a different blog and upload the images there, then hotlink to embed them in your original blog.

You have three gigs of space. Why would you worry about using two meg?

Tnx for your reply & the tip raincoaster, :)

No, I’m not concerned at all, being new to the service, I was just curious how things work here.
