  Is there a way to add a section to the site where readers could share photos and stories? And have it visible to the public?

  Hi there,

  We do have a system in place for inviting contributors to your site, but they need to create their own account and “log in” to your site: https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/

  However, we don’t have a way for the general public to submit content to your site. We do offer a contact form you can add to your site, but that would only allow people to send text to you (not images) and you as the owner of the site would need to publish that content on the behalf of the contributor. There is not way to give them direct access to post to your site.

  If you would like to offer the ability to submit images as well as text, that is not something we offer in our form block but you can accept those kind of submissions by using the alternatives: https://wordpress.com/support/forms/

  Contributors do not have the ability to upload images or documents:

  If you are looking for something closer to a forum where members a part of the site can comment and dialog back and forth, I would recommend trying out the P2 theme:

  https://wordpress.com/p2/

  It is designed for businesses or team members to share, discuss, and collaborate, but it would also work if you are wanting to invite people into the site to have discussions on particular topics. Please take a look and let us know if you have any questions.
