    If I map my domain with WordPress am I able to use all of WordPress tools to make my website or do I transfer? Are there any differences?

    Hi there,

    In the simplest terms, domain mapping is a way for you to have a site here on WordPress.com (like mygroovysite.wordpress.com) and replace the “wordpress.com” URL with a custom one you have with another domain provider.

    Basically it allows you to connect a domain you own with another company to a site here on WordPress.com.

    “Tranferring” a domain is a little different. In that case you would actually move your domain registration from your other company to us (consolidating your billing here) in addition to giving your WordPress.com site a custom address.

    However either method will work, and give your WordPress.com site a custom address. So there is not difference from that standpoint.
