Question about domain

  Hi,
  I just closed my account with Dreamhost where I had a domainname ruthschnabl.com. I now want to create my website with WordPress.com, the Personal option, so that I can choose my own domain name. However when I tried to choose ruthschnabl.com, it told me that the domain was taken obviously referring to my old Dreamhost domain. Does that mean I need to wait till Dreamhost removes my domain or if that’s not an option, can I transfer it to WP.com?

  Hello

  I don’t think you need to wait for them to close it. What you need to do is to move your domain to WordPress.com.

  @zzziege, if you have already canceled your domain on the Dreamhost side, you will want to reach out to them and ask what are your options.
  They may be able to recover it for you so that you’ll be able to transfer it to WordPress.com directly.

  It’s never a good idea to cancel the domain if you plan on using it because the process can be very lenghty and you may even lose the domain forever.

  Dreamhost should be able to help you.
