Question about search engine visibility with purchase of our own domain name

    Our domain name now is weavervillegardenclub.wordpress.com. I need to know if I purchase the custom domain name gardenclubofweaverville.org from WordPress, will search engines still find us with this phrase “weavervillegardenclub”. The title will remain “THe Garden Club of Weaverville”.

    When you change domain names you always lose search engine ranking, but the old URL still works, so you don’t disappear from search engines. After about four months the new URL will rank as well as the old one did.
