Question about the WordPress Business Package.

  Hi,

  I’m in the early stages of setting up a small business from home and I’m trying to decide which WordPress plan is right for me. Here’s a brief list of things that I need the website to do:

  1) It needs to work with Patreon. I want a Patreon button on the front page so customers can donate.

  2) It needs to have a message board so customers can discuss the products on offer.

  3) Some of the products I intend to sell will come with .PDF documents. Customers need to be able to download them directly from the site.

  Now, at first glance, the WordPress Business Plan seems like the only one which will allow me to do all these. The problem is that it’s rather expensive. Is it possible for me to have all of the above features on the more affordable personal plan?

  That’s correct. The features you listed aren’t available on the Free, Personal or Premium plans and would therefore require the Business plan.

  It needs to work with Patreon. I want a Patreon button on the front page so customers can donate.

  I’m not familiar with the Patreon donation button but if it contains Javascript, it can only be used on the Business plan. Integration beyond a button that would require a custom plugin or perhaps a custom theme.

  It needs to have a message board so customers can discuss the products on offer.

  Message board functionality could be added using a custom plugin. There are hundreds of plugins in the Plugin Directory, so I recommend looking there.

  Some of the products I intend to sell will come with .PDF documents. Customers need to be able to download them directly from the site.

  The WooCommerce plugin supports the option to sell digital products. There are eCommerce options available for other plans but they don’t support digital downloads — you would need to send PDFs to customers manually after they have paid.
