question about two sites with similar domain names

    So I accidentally created two sites with similar domain names. One is thechristieproject.wordpress.com and the other one is thechristieprojectblog.wordpress.com. The second one, with ‘blog’ in its domain name, is the active one, but I want it to have the first domain name, without the ‘blog.’ If I delete the first one, can I then switch the second site to the domain name of my deleted site? Or is that domain name gone forever, never to be available for use again?

    Hi there,

    Please don’t delete anything, no. That will remove the address from our system and you won’t be able to use it again at all.

    As both addresses already exists, you’ll need to export the content from the site with the “wrong” address and import it to the other site:

    Export

    Import

    The theme and any settings and customizations you’ve changed you’ll need to change manually on the new site – those can’t be transferred the way content can.

    Once you’ve moved everything across I can also help move your followers and your stats to the correct site. Just let me know when you’re ready to do that.
