Question about video blogging
-
I teach 8th grade English, and I want to start a video blog for one of my students who will be undergoing chemo and radiation for the next 6 months. He won’t be able to come to school, but I want him to still get some social interaction through video posts from classmates and teachers. I can’t figure out if this is possible with the free version, but I also can’t afford the paid version. Am I misreading this, or are there any exceptions for educational purposes?
Thanks!

Hi,
VideoPress is required in order to upload videos to a WordPress.com website, but you can embed videos from various video libraries all day long without uploading them. A good workaround in your case might be to create a YouTube account that the children can contribute to. The videos can be marked private if you wish to restrict who can see them.
The Videos support page says:
You can also embed videos from many video services on your WordPress.com blog for free. While videos from many popular services will embed automatically by simply placing a link to the video in your post or page, we also have detailed help for a number of video sites…
This is followed by a link list to WordPress.com support pages regarding 19 different video libraries.
