Question regarding canon links and authors

    Hello,
I recently had to contact a website which was reusing content inappropriately. I originally contacted them several months ago and asked them to add canonical links to their reposts (they claimed it was an RSS and only added said links when legal action was threatened).
Later, I found that they had added two canonical links to each article – one to my website, and one to their own. They had also been writing ‘Contributed on (date)’ rather than marking who the original authors were.
When I contacted the website again about this, their response was that the problems were caused by a WordPress plugin which they were unable to work around. As a result, they simply removed the content from their website altogether.
This isn’t the worst possible result for me – I just wanted to check if what they were claiming about the WP plugin is true? It’s a website that uses an RSS, and they weren’t even adding canonical links before I first got in contact with them.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
    All the best,
    Phil
