Quote block inside classic

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi! I’m having trouble with the quote button inside the classic text block. When I’m writing it and select a part of the text then click on the ‘ quote button it makes that quote with a different format – it displays it with a line on the left of that block of text. When I publish the post, that line disappears. How do I make it visible once published?

    WP.com: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

When you use the classic editor (as opposed to the block editor) it does not show you things in the style that your theme uses, but instead uses a general style that is visible only in the editor.

When the content is published it is rendered using the built-in styles for your theme, which in this case does not include a line graphic for block quotes.

In this case, the only way to get that look would be to upgrade to our WordPress.com Pro Plan, which would allow you to use CSS code to override the built in theme styles, and format things like quote in the style you prefer.

More info about the Pro Plan here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
