Re: Ads – Payment

Hi,
Re: Ads – Payment
We filled a form in to qualify for ads some time ago – we have now noticed that ads are appearing on our pages. How do we get information regarding payment?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, all free WordPressdotcom sites display ads put there by WordPressdotcom to help offset the cost of hosting your free site. As far as I can tell your site iguru.home.blog is a free WordPressdotcom website.
Are you referring to a different WordPressdotcom site with a custom domain (one of the prerequisites) or a site using the WordPress software and the Jetpack plugin installed? If so, you can learn more about WordAds, including earnings & payment, in this guide: https://wordads.co/faq/
Hope that helps but let us know if you have any other question about this and make sure to include the address of the website involved if it’s not iguru.home.blog

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, but I am still not clear about what should be happening. When our organisation signed up – we signed up for a site where we would be paid for any ads that were featured on the site. We were not able to have any ads until we had done this – once we had completed this process – advertisements started to appear.
I have looked at the link that you have provided – and from recollection the arrangements would appear to be similar if not the same to what we agreed to.
We have several thousand pages online and your ads are appearing on all our WordPress sites, often as many as 8 or 9 on each page.
We are therefore seeking further clarification of this matter.

Hello again, as mentioned in the WordAds FAQ, one of the prerequisites to being eligible for the WordAds program is having a custom domain
Q: Why do I need a custom domain name?
A: We are unable to provide WordAds for sites with the default free [example].wordpress.com URL, so you’ll need to either register a new domain name or map an existing domain name to your WordPress.com blog of choice.Since iguru.home.blog is a free WordPressdotcom site, what is the address of the website are you referring to?
I’ve also tagged this thread for Staff assistance and input. Thanks for your patience while they get to this thread.

FWIW, when I visit iguru.home.blog, I do not see any advertising at all. What I do see are links to content spread over several free WordPressdotcom websites as well as other web site hosting, like weebly and wix. If advertising is showing up there, it’s likely not from WordPressdotcom.

Hi there,
we signed up for a site where we would be paid for any ads that were featured on the site.
This only applies to sites on our Premium and our Business Plan, and your account has never bought any plans from us. https://iguru.home.blog/ is on our free plan, and as such the ads placed there are placed by us to pay for the costs of hosting that site for free, as we do on all free sites hosted on WordPress.com.
We have several thousand pages online
https://iguru.home.blog/ only has 2 published posts and 23 pages.
The other site in your account, https://igururelationships.wordpress.com/, also on our free plan, only has 4 published pages.
Can you please confirm the URL of the site you’re speaking of?

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
I have visited the sites where ads were appearing on iGURU! Teaching Systems – even as late as earlier on this afternoon – as I intended to send you the various links – however, it seems they have been removed, as they are no longer appearing on these pages.
I can describe some of the ads that were appearing as they were very common –
1. Woman who won the jackpot with her hand to her mouth.
2. Woman in a red dress with hands on her knees – drawing
3. Old lady regarding pension
4. Video game ad – and many others. As I have said in a previous message – there were often as many as 8 advertisements on a page. In view of your previous message to us – can you please confirm that there shall be no further ads appearing on our pages.

We serve hundreds of millions of ads across millions of sites a day, and no two people visiting your site sees the same ads, so it’s quite impossible for us to know what ads you’re speaking of based on your description above.
You also still have not confirmed what site you’re speaking of as I asked above. Both sites in your account are titled “iGURU! Teaching Systems”, but neither of them has “several thousand pages” as you claimed in your previous comment.
In view of your previous message to us – can you please confirm that there shall be no further ads appearing on our pages.
Both those sites are also on our free plan, so they will show ads unless you upgrade to a paid plan. I said nothing in my previous reply to indicate anything other than that.

Hi –
RE: iGURU! Teaching Systems – Ads on WordPress Websites
I write with reference to the ads that were appearing on our account and your last message. iGURU! Teaching Systems has an extensive online presence numbering 1000’s of pages (I include a Google Search for your reference – https://www.google.com/search?q=iguru!+teaching+systems+indexes&filter=0&biw=1320&bih=643 ) – however the query concerning ads relate to WordPress sites which you have identified by your email. It appeared that ‘unauthorised’ ads were appearing on our WordPress site pages – this has been the case we believe for a number of months – I am sure your technical apparatus would be able to confirm this.
Following our query about this – the appearance of such ads have now ceased. That being the case the matter raised by us would seem to have been resolved.
However, you raise another matter which seems to suggest that you have the authority to place ads on ‘free websites’ – kindly indicate by reference to any contract and / or agreement to relevant provisions upon which you base your statement. We will then be able to consider this matter and hopefully resolve this query you have raised.

Sharon Taylor
