Re-Using Deleted Blog Names

  I understand that it has been clearly stated in a policy (That I, sadly, have not read) that previous blog names cannot be re-used. But I /really/ would like to know why. Why can’t the same user re-use a certain URL?

  You should only delete a site if you never want to use that site name again. If it is your own deleted site you are talking about then there is the possibility of re-registering it in two years time.

  “xirioi.wordpress.com is no longer available.
  The authors have deleted this site”.

  WordPress.com URLs can’t be reused immediately for your own security. If deleted site addresses became available straight away someone else could register them and impersonate the previous site owners and before long anarchy would reign all across the Interweb even more than it does already :(
