How to add a button or text to post on the front page. Read more in editor does not show on that page in the Expound theme. Is there CSS code to do that? Editor more is not doing it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

The use of More tags to truncate posts on the posts page is not theme dependent. See the More Tags support page for information and instructions.

Is there CSS code to do that?

There might be, but it’s unnecessary.

Editor more is not doing it.

    What do you mean?

Thank you for your reply. What you are suggesting is exactly what is not working on my theme Expound. I have tried this and all it does is show the the post up to where I have inserted the tag but does not have any read more or even the default continue reading, or just more showing, nothing, no text after the posts. This is not finctioning on the Expound theme front page.

I am going to look into changing theme instead. Thanks for your help.

You’re welcome. Hadn’t checked out your site prior to my initial response so I didn’t really understand the issue. I believe what is happening is that the read more tags are being ignored since the posts page of Expound already displays excerpts by default, though it doesn’t include a “read more” or “continue” link except on the most recent featured post. Instead, both featured images and the titles on the posts page are links to the individual posts.

Perhaps the more tag will work if you insert it ahead of where the theme automatically truncates the post, or or it might work on some post formats but not others with this theme. On the other hand, maybe it won’t work under any circumstances on the posts page with Expound. I don’t have time to test any of these ideas tonight, but will try to test some tomorrow.

I can see how this could be a real problem, particularly with regard to the poems, where you might prefer to show nothing. You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention. Staff may be able to provide more definitive answers regarding why the Expound posts page behaves as it does, and whether anything can be done about it.

Thank you. I am looking into using another theme instead of the Expound. One that has more of what I did.
