Reblog for self hosted WP sites
-
Hello,
I’m using my personal WP site as my ‘pillar of content’. I have a work website I plan to migrate to WordPress and I’d like to ‘reblog’, or some similar function, posts from my personal to my work website. I know the traditional reblog function is available only to wp.com owners. What’s the best way to achieve this functionality, without manually duplicating content on my worksite and keeping the ‘origin’ of my post on my personal site?
Thanks,
Ian

Hi Ian,
The closest option is to use the Press This plugin. That plugin allows you to share content from any website to a new post on your own site.
So, you’ll view your personal site, highlight the content you want to share, and click the Press This bookmarklet in your browser. That will then open the editor for a new draft post on your site, with the content you highlighted and a link back to the original.
The biggest differences between this and a reblog is 1) you can use this to share content from ANY website, 2) it won’t generate a comment on the site you’re sharing from like a Reblog – at most that site will get a pingback because you’re linking to them in a post, and 3) you can share a post like this any number of times where any WordPress.com account can only reblog any WordPress.com post once.
We do have an open feature request for Reblog support to be added to Jetpack, but I cannot tell you if or when that might happen.
