Recent Domain Expired

Hello,
I’m having a slight problem, as I was just overall confused on the whole domain thing and whatnot. I have a domain that I have put in place of the WordPress create a website walk through, but I get this message,
‘This domain expired recently. To get it back please contact support.’
I know what I did to make this happen (I deleted the domain from WordPress, because I already paid for it on HostGator and intended to use the set up wizard from HostGator as well), but I wanted to know if there was a way that I can expedite the whole placing the domain name into the public space again so that I could reclaim it?

Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. You should never cancel a domain that you still want to use, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to use it again somewhere else in future. Only cancel a domain if you’re completely sure you no longer want it at all.
In this case your domain should be released early next week at which point you’ll be able to register it somewhere else. We cannot manually release the domain immediately.
