  Hi, I would like to create a website for my brother music band, I would like to customise this website as much as they want and have something safe to use (good security level ). Do you have some recommendation? Can I custom the free version? Do I need to get the premium version? Should I code everything by myself and use WordPress api ?

  There’s no need to code anything by yourself. WordPress.com is designed to allow any one to set up and run their own website without knowing any thing at all about coding.
