Reconnecting my old blogs

  Long story. I initially had two wordpress blogs. doublecousins.wordpress.com and miriamjonesbradley.wordpress.com In 2014 I had a new website built, miriamjonesbradley.com for which I still own the domain name. I moved my blogs over to that website apparently. Now, I find out someone hacked my website and put malware on it that destroyed my database. I am trying to get one or both of my blogs back up, but when I go to them it says I don’t have a wordpress site. How can I fix this? My website did use wordpress. My domain name is currently sitting uselessly with godaddy..

  Hi there,

  There’s a difference between WordPress, and WordPress.com – WordPress is a piece of software made by a community of volunteers on WordPress.org, while WordPress.com is one of hundreds of hosting providers for that software, just like GoDaddy.

  For your site at miriamjonesbradley.com you were using the open source WordPress software, hosted on GoDaddy’s servers. We have no access to their severs, so also no access to the content you had on that site. If you didn’t keep your own backups of that site, then only GoDaddy support might be able to help you – hopefully your hosting plan with them includes backups.

  doublecousins.wordpress.com and miriamjonesbradley.wordpress.com are hosted with us on WordPress.com, but they don’t belong to the miriamjonesbradley3e5d9b31dc account you’re using to post here, which you only created in September last year.

  To access those two sites you need to be logged into the site that owns them. If you don’t remember the login details for that site, you can follow our account recovery steps at https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/ to regain access.

  Thank you for your response.

  I’m resigned to the loss of my website.

  The miriamjonesbradley3e5d9b31dc that was created in September last year was NOT created by me. This is about the time my website was hacked and malware inserted that destroyed the database. I can only assume this is a hack too. I do not have any passwords for this. How do I go about retrieving my sites, if possible, or deleting that content, if not. The content showing on the sites IS MINE.

  So, I went into the site and changed the password. Then I signed out and signed back in using that password and it said I didn’t have any wordpress sites.

  But, I can type miriamjonesbradley.wordpress.com into the browser and it comes up. But, when I click on My site it says I don’t have any wordpress sites yet.

  It is the same situation with the doublecousins.wordpress.com site.
