recover domain

Hi I want to recover my domain seattleyouthcan.org

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi seattleyouthcan,

seattleyouthcan.org has expired but we may still be able to recover it. I will need to send a payment request for the domain cost but if the domain enters the redemption period between now and then, you will also need to pay an $80 redemption fee.

If you are happy to proceed, I can send a payment request for $26 and contact our domain registrar once it has been paid — they will then confirm whether the domain has entered redemption or not.

If you don’t want to pay the fee you can wait until the domain is released, although this can take 80 days or more. There is also no guarantee you will be the first to register it again.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I talked with go daddy and they said the domain can be recovered through May. I would like to add the domain to my wordpress.com account and get everything up and running ASAP. Can you help with this?

    Thanks,
    Eli

Also, is this a trustworthy site to help me recover my site if wordpress.com is anable? https://www.24x7wpsupport.com/

    Hi Eli,

I would like to add the domain to my wordpress.com account and get everything up and running ASAP.

Sure! I’ve sent a payment request for the domain cost to the email address on your account. I will contact our domain registrar when your payment comes through and get the recovery process underway.

is this a trustworthy site to help me recover my site if wordpress.com is anable?

24x7wpsupport are not connected to WordPress.com in any way and they do not have access to WordPress.com sites. seattleyouthcan.org was registered through WordPress.com so we are the only people who can help you recover the domain.

Let me know if you don’t receive the payment request.

    Hi Thanks,

Since I didn’t hear from you sooner I already initiated the recovery process with 24×7 and have paid them to reconstruct the website. Would you have been able to restore the most recent version?

I got the payment link you sent for the domain, should I still use it or what do you suggest I do now?

    Hi Eli,

Would you have been able to restore the most recent version?

seattleyouthcan.org is pointing to a site hosted by GoDaddy, you do not need to pay 24x7wpsupport to recover the site though. We can ask our domain registrar to restore the domain and once this has been done, seattleyouthcan.org will point to your GoDaddy site again. Just because a domain expires, it doesn’t mean your site or content disappears completely — all that’s happening is there is no connection between the two.

I got the payment link you sent for the domain, should I still use it or what do you suggest I do now?

The domain was registered through WordPress.com so it will need to be recovered through us and this is not something 24x7wpsupport.com can help you with. Once your payment has come through, I’ll make a request for the domain to be restored.

Please let me know if there is anything you are unsure about.

So i’m not sure what to do now. Since it look a while to hear back from wordpress.com and I was getting contradicting messages from go daddy and wordpress, I went with the folks that said they could help, 24×7, but sounds like it would have been easier for you to help.

Can you resend info on how I can pay to get my domain back up please.

    Thanks,
    Eli

Hi thanks for your help. I got the payment link but it’s not working from my phone so will try again when I’m back in the office.

One I am successful will it automatically restore my site or will there be more to do then. I can try and request a refund from 24×7 as they gave me misleading information.

    Thanks,
    Eli

    Hi Eli,

I got the payment link but it’s not working from my phone so will try again when I’m back in the office.

Oh good, I’m glad it came through. I will ask for your domain to be restored once the payment has come through. It generally takes 1-2 business days to hear back so don’t worry if the domain doesn’t show in your account straight away. When everything is back up and running, the domain will be pointing back towards GoDaddy.

Great. So I just paid for the domain renewal. What is the next step once it is restored to get the site online? It looks like it is hosted by wordpress.com, so does that mean they will automatically be linked?

Also, do you recomend I try and get out of the work order with 24×7?

    Hi seattleyouthcan,

Good news! seattleyouthcan.org has been recovered and I see one of my colleagues added the domain back to your site a few hours ago (they sent an email to confirm). The “Seattle Youth CAN” site is loading again and you should be able to login to the site now the domain has been recovered.

Also, do you recomend I try and get out of the work order with 24×7?

I don’t know much about your agreement with 24×7 but they were not in a position to help you recover the domain. If you paid them to help recover seattleyouthcan.org, their services will not be needed.

Come back to me if you have any questions.

Thanks so much for your help!

Is there a way to update the account with my email so that I get future notifications about domain or site renewable?

    Eli

    Hi Eli,

You’re very welcome! Information about your account and renewals is sent to the email address on your Account Settings page, so you’ll want to keep that up to date:
