Recover old username

    Hello, I’m new to WordPress. I created an account and then changed the username. Now i want to return to my first username but it says that it already exists. If i try to create a new account with that old username it also says that it exists, but its no longer in use because i changed it, so i want to know if it is possible to get back or free in some way that old username so it can be used again.
