  • Hey there,

I checked with our registrar and rootsfarmfood.com is now in a redemption period. It looks like it expired on 3/17 of this year. You can still renew your domain through us, but it is now a more expensive and complicated process to do so. Our registrar charges an $80 late renewal fee in addition to the $26 we charge to renew the domain. The good news is that this is still a chance of reclaiming the domain through this option.

Your other option is to wait until the redemption period is over so that the domain becomes available for registration again. Domains are usually in redemption for approximately 80 days, but with this option, you run
the risk of someone else jumping in front of you to purchase the domain before you get the chance.

Please let me know if you want to proceed with paying the late renewal fee in the attempt to reclaim the domain name. This option is also time sensitive because the domain can be auctioned off to an expired domain bidder.

I would suggest enabling the auto-renew option so that you will not have to worry about losing control over your domain in the future.

    Hi rootsfarm,

We have contacted our domain registrar and made a request for the domain to be restored. The process usually takes 1-2 business days but we will be in touch as soon as we have more information for you.

  • Unknown's avatar

We have already gone through this part of the process and received notification that it was restored, BUT it is not reflecting in our DNS verification

You only sent one notification of the expiration of the domain, then charged us an extra $80 to reinstate, when it should never have expired in the first place if we were properly notified. Not having access to our email is making it nearly impossible to function. How did we go backwards in this process? Whatever needs to be done to have our email functioning today needs to happen.

Are you going to make this happen today?

    Hi rootsfarm,

Paying the recovery fee does not automatically recover the domain — we have to make a request with our domain registrar for this to happen. However the good news is, rootsfarmfood.com has now been restored and is active on your site:

    https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/rootsfarmfood.com

We have also sent confirmation of this by email.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

  • @rootsfarm the site is active for me right now. It points to another provider, and shows this message:

This website is pending domain owner verification

Did you intend to point the domain elsewhere? If so can you update your settings?

Once you update your settings you’ll need to wait a few hours for your internet connection to forget the old settings and refresh for new ones, but if you want to hurry that along you can talk to your ISP about clearing your DNS cache.
