Recovering old site, old account
-
Back in 2013, I created a WordPress account and a Gravatar avatar. I have the email address and the password in my password manager. But WordPress no longer seems to recognize my username or my email account. The Account Recovery page also doesn’t seem to recognize the activation URL. (Yes, I still have the activation email.) I never set up 2FA nor did I ever upgrade to a paid account.
I can provide a real human with the creation date, original email, and my username. I can see my WordPress site is still up. And it’s hosted on WordPress. I can give someone that, too.
And if someone can see what email is associated with the site, in case I changed it and forgot, it’s probably still active, and I can reply. I tried the most likely accounts without success.
Can anyone suggest how I can recover access to my site and my Gravatar? I’m out of ideas at this point. -
Could you please share the domain of the site you’d like to recover?
In the meantime, you review our account recovery guide for the information and documents that can help verify ownership and restore access if needed:

Thank you for your reply.
I compared the sample account activation URL shown on the help page you referenced to the one I received. The URLs seemed more similar than I thought, so I tried the Account Recovery page again. For whatever reason, it accepted the activation link this time. I don’t know what I did differently.
I apologize for the false alarm.
