red squiggly lines under "misspelled" words

I unchecked “Writing helper” but my edit screen still underlines supposed misspellings. Do I really have to delete cookies? I need a lot of those cookies.

We actually don’t highlight anything unless you’ve actively clicked on the spell check button available in the classic editor. The red squiggly lines are probably being added by either your computer or your browser itself. Can you tell me what browser you’re using?

I’m using the classic editor in Firefox 34.0.5 in Windows, and you’re right that it’s the browser’s fault. I just tried it in IE Explorer and there’s no red squiggly lines. I didn’t know browsers took that on themselves. You may consider this issue closed, and thank you!

Oh great! I found these directions to turn off spell check in Firefox if you want:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1022023
They say:
You can turn of spell check in:
- Tools > Options (Edit > Preferences in Mac and Linux)
- Under the Advanced tab, uncheck “Check my spelling as I type”
Alternatively inside any input text box, you can right click and select “Check my spelling” – it should stop checking your spelling.
Let me know if there’s anything else!
