Redemption period

Hi,
I first registered my domain (hakyungjoo.com) with WordPress and before my premium plan was expired, I transferred it to Wix.
Now, my WordPress premium plan is expired (currently I’m on Wix premium plan) and my domain seems like in the redemption period (impossible to access).
The product team at Wix suggested me to contact my domain provider so, I’m hoping someone here could help me out.Thank you so much!

You are correct – I checked with our registrar and hakyungjoo.com is now in a redemption period. You can still renew your domain through us, but it is now a more expensive and complicated process to do so. Our registrar charges an $80 late renewal fee in addition to the $26 we charge to renew the domain. The good news is that this is still a chance of reclaiming the domain through this option.
Your other option is to wait until the redemption period is over so that the domain becomes available for registration again. Domains are usually in redemption for approximately 80 days, but with this option, you run
the risk of someone else jumping in front of you to purchase the domain before you get the chance.Please let me know if you want to proceed with paying the late renewal fee in the attempt to reclaim the domain name. This option is also time sensitive because the domain can be auctioned off to an expired domain bidder.
I would suggest enabling the auto-renew option so that you will not have to worry about losing control over your domain in the future.

But I’m still little confused about the position of my website.
Now, like I said, I transferred to Wix premium plan for the same domain, and it worked okay until my WordPress premium plan was expired.
I already made a purchase for Wix plan and I do not want to use WordPress as my website provider.
If I should pay renewal fee through WordPress.com, does it mean that my website would be bonded to WordPress? Or, could I just renew my domain through WordPress and then, use my current Wix website as my website (without purchasing Wix premium plan)?
If my website would be bonded to WordPress.com (or, if I have to pay for both domain at WordPress.com and premium plan for Wix), is there any way that I could possibly transfer my domain to Wix? Or, the way for domain be expired faster than 80 days?

Hi there,
As you mentioned, your website is with Wix and no longer with WordPress.com. However, your domain is still registered with WordPress.com although you’ve been using the domain with Wix because you pointed the nameservers from WordPress.com to Wix. So no, your website isn’t bonded to WordPress.com, but your domain is. You pay for the domain here and the premium plan for your site over at Wix.

I’ll be happy to contact the registrar to see if we can restore hakyungjoo.com to your account, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to get the domain back. If I am successful, I can send you a manual payment request form for you to repurchase the domain.
