Redirecting for a self-hosted blog
-
Hi, people.
After years using WordPress.com, I plan to move my blog for a self-hosted domain (still using WordPress). The problem’s that I wouldn’t want to lose my PageRank and reset all this SEO stuff.
I’ve read about the Site Redirect and the Domain Mapping upgrades, but couldn’t tell the difference between them. Which one of these would fit my needs for now?
Thank you very much. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Then if I want to redirect “blog.wordpress.com” for “blog.com” I must buy the site redirect upgrade, right?
Would it redirect all my posts and keep my permalinks too? -

That is correct

It redirects everything – BUT – you need to fix the perma-links on the receiving end to match the Perma-link format here – the default Perma-link structure is not what is used at WordPress.COM

Which means if I match both permalink formats they would be all redirected, right?
Thank you very much for your attention, auxclass! :)

I an not sure what happens if you put your blog in a different sub-directory probably a problem so you should look at where you put the files – – but if you are self hosting you can use httacess to get a redirect or you can probably find a plug – in to help on your .ORG site
good luck
