Redirecting from old WordPress.com site to Squarespace new site

    Hello. I want to place a redirect notice on my old WordPress site that redirects to my new Squarespace site; Yes I have read the WordPress.com notes on How to do it, but they do not fully explain WHAT people See as this happens?? So, If someone clicks on my site in Google and is sent to the homepage what will they SEE? A notice saying you are being redirected? If they click on a Page within any part of my old site ( not just the homepage) do they still get the redirect notice?
    Thanks, any help appreciated. I repeat I have read the official site notes on this but need clarification on these particular points. Regards gaye

    Hi @gayechapman2,

    – Every link on the old site will redirect to the same link on the new site. So theredirectedsite.wordpress.com/2021/01/hello-world would be redirected to thenewsite.wordpress.com/2021/01/hello-world . If that link doesn’t exist on the new site, or if the server isn’t able to figure out how to connect that link to the correct article, users may see a 404 message. You’ll want to be prepared for that.

    – The user won’t see a notice that the site has moved. They’ll just be sent to the new address

    – Google’s services will see a note saying the site has been moved, and can hopefully quietly update their links accordingly.
