Reduced Auto SSL error messages
-
Hi, I have been receiving about ten emails a day from Cpanel saying there is an Auto SSL problem. How do I resolve this?

Hi there!
What’s the address of the site you’re working on?
Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software, we won’t be able to help you out and you’ll want to seek help at these forums:

Hi!
It’s a WordPress.com site.
https://rebeccagreenbergphotography.wordpress.com
I’m not quite sure how to fix this issue. It’s never come up before in the years I’ve run the site.

Hi there,
There’s no issue with the SSL certificate of your site. Furthermore we don’t use cPanel and we don’t send out such emails.
The emails you’re receiving are either spams or from another site you have hosted elsewhere.

Okay, I’ll have to try to get on to cPanel about it. Could it be something to do with how I host https://rebeccagreenberg.com but it forwards to the WordPress site? I use Canvas Dreams to host.

To properly map the custom domain to your WordPress.com site and use our SSL, you’d need to purchase one of our paid plans and follow the steps outlined here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
The redirect you have in place right now is what’s causing the issue.
-
Is this a new requirement, to pay for a plan? I have had this site redirected for 10 years and this is the first time there is a problem.
-
We have never been able to guarantee a forwarded domain like that will work properly.
We only support domains which are either properly mapped to a site here https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/ transferred to us https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/ or registered with us https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-domain/

I’m not sure how I set it up ten years ago. It’s really a place holder site and I haven’t worked on it in a long time.
It’s disappointing it’s all of a sudden not going to work now. I’ll have to figure out what to do.
