Referrers

Trying to understand the symbols next to the referring sites stats in Jetpack. I see a referrer came from Facebook and I’m trying to understand how. I don’t have a facebook Page related to my blog, nor does my Instagram account use the same email as my Facebook personal profile, it doesn’t use my phone number, I even checked off on my Instagram profile that I don’t want my profile included a s a recommended account to follow. None of my contacts in Facebook are connected to this Instagram profile. I know facebook owns Instagram but I can’t figure out how Facebook referred to my Instagram profile?

Because your site is public on the internet, other people who visit your site do have the ability to “share” your site with their followers by adding a link to your site to their Facebook page.
If you are not sharing content on Facebook yourself, this is likely where the referrer traffic is coming from, but Facebook does not share much data on where visits originating from their service actually come from, so we have no details on what someone clicked on Facebook in order to be taken to your site.
