Refund

Howdy –
Happy to help out. After looking at the account you’ve used here though, I can see that there have not been any purchases made from it. There’s nothing to refund from this account.
Please sign in to the account where those purchases were made and then post back in this thread. From there, I can evaluate a possible refund.

That’s the trouble! I am unable to log into either “michaeldennisrivers” or the startup account but I noticed that WordPress charged $250 to my charge card without my authorization!
I tried to change a grammar error but was unable to even do that, no passwords work??? All I have is a broken website and no access to it. I want out!

Hi there,
Can you please give us the address of your WordPress.com site? The account you’re using to post here doesn’t own any sites, so if you received a charge from us, it’s for a completely different account. We don’t sell any upgrades that cost $250, though, assuming that’s US$.
If you’re not sure what site the charge is for, please search for the charge at https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/. You can also use the Contact Us link on that page to contact our billing support team directly for further help with this – to track down the transaction we’ll need to get some additional information from you which we cannot discuss here in the public forums.

The site is michaeldennisrivers.com.
When I was first involved, the message I was given was that it was free, next it was $2.50 per month and they wanted a charge card to charge it to. No big deal I thought $2.50 sounded fair. But when I got my credit card bill WordPress charged me $250.00!!!
Also after that I received no chat help and none of my passwords worked. I was locked out!
The charge is listed to: [redacted] for $250.62 -
Hi there,
Your site is not hosted by us (WordPress.com). It is using the open source WordPress.org software and it is hosted by Bluehost. Also, the charge prefix (EIG) indicates that this is indeed a charge from Bluehost. Therefore, you need to contact them regarding your billing issue.

How was it possible that I started with WordPress.com and got switched to Bluehost and that Bluehost was able to access my credit card and steal $250!
All the time I was under the impression that I was dealing with WordPress.com? -
Hi there,
You have a self-hosted WordPress.org site with Bluehost when you registered your domain and paid for hosting with your site. You have no sites connected to your WordPress.com account here, nor do you have any history of payments to us. For the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, please visit our support page here:
I would reach out to Bluehost if you are interested in receiving a refund from them:
https://www.bluehost.com/contact/
Hopefully this helps.

Thank you for your help in this matter. I am still confused as to how I started with WordPress.com and somehow??? wound up with Bluehost and paid them $250 (they did NOT use a legit charge process) and for that have a .com site that I can’t access and it has a grammar error that makes me look like a fool (em-bare-assing!!!)
When I ask them (chat) to reimburse me and take down the site, they ask for a name and password (catch 22) which I am unable to provide! They disconnect!
Perhaps there is an internet policing org, that I can contact that can give me help?

Hi Mike,
I realise this must be frustrating, but I’m afraid I don’t have any more info on this for you.
The domain, michaeldennisrivers.com, has never been registered with us, and appears to have been first registered with Bluehost a few weeks ago. So they really are the only people who can help you with this.
You can always dispute the charge at your bank or credit card company as well, but I suggest you contact Bluehost again and explain this is an unknown charge situation that you need help with, rather than leading with trying to get access to/take down the site.

My original attempt to build a web page where I can post my poetry and art work sprang from the fact that a friend informed me that Allpoetry (where I post most of my poetry) is not available to people unless they join as a poet. I also post a few pieces on a webpage hosted by WordPress.com in Amsterdam. That gave me the idea to build my own site so that I can display some of my art work as well as my poems.
I looked at the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org and decided that I would be best served by WordPress.com.
Somehow, unbeknownst to me, I was co-opted by Bluehost.com and skinned for $250 and change. There was NO checkout procedure and the only way I found out about the theft was when I got my credit card bill. In the process I was given one way to access my broken webpage. I was sent a six digit code which I faithfully cut and pasted into the supplied window and told by the Bluehost agent that it was incorrect. This process went on four times with four different six digit numbers until I realized that they were f**king with me and refused to play their game any more.
They cut me out, no chat, no password, no access to my broken site michaeldennisrivers.com, no refund, no nothing! Just a baulistrade of snickering geeks who keep telling me they will help me just as soon as I enter the right six digit code… he he he…
Well I’m done, my next move is to take this glaring example of ELDER FRAUD to my Masachusetts Attorney General, Maura Healy.

What’s interesting here is through four different “staff” members not one of them touched the subject of how I was co-opted by Bluehost!
It’s as if I went to Amazon and they shuffled me off, together with my credit card info! to someone else who charged me an exorbitant amount and then closed the communication window so that I cannot ask for my money back.
Also, nice Forum, it seems like it’s just me and four “Staff.” Has no one else had any trouble?
