Refund and cancelation of recent renewal

  • Unknown's avatar

My blog domain was set up to be renewed in two weeks. I got a notice over the holiday weekend that it was being renewed now. I was wanting to cancel the renewal prior to it happening. The charge went through this morning, but the email I got said I could still cancel it for 2 days. There doesn’t appear to be ANYWHERE to contact someone to get this to happen though. Just how is this supposed to happen?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Provided you are logged in under the same username account that registered the blog and purchased the upgrades, you ought to be able to request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades

WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/#refunds
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

To disable autorenew, provided you are logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased the upgrades go to > Store > My Upgrades and click the “disable auto-renew” link.

I was told in the email that I could stop the renewal from there *IF* the link was available. But by the time I got the email that it was about to happen, there WAS no link to stop it. It was marked as pending. And now it says it is active and will be renewed again on July 6 of next year….which, if it is anything like this year, will actually renew two weeks BEFORE that.

The problem is the fine print. It says, “You can use the “Cancel” button on My Upgrades if available or Contact support if you want to request a refund.” Only problem is there is no “available” cancel button. And if you click on the link to contact support, it sends you to some useless knowledgebase and, when you can’t find the answer there, it sends you HERE to post a question. Just how is requesting a refund in the support section of the forum a valid way to contact the billing department?

Nothing like giving me 48 hours to get a refund and then taking more than that to get back to me…. /sigh

    Hi there,

I’m sorry for the trouble with that renewal and the refund. However, the domain upgrade for chromecastcentral.com isn’t linked to your username djeaton3162. (Only the account that owns the domain upgrade can make changes to it.) Before I can make any changes, I’ll need to verify you own that domain.

Can you please log in to the account that owns the domain upgrade and then reply here to confirm your request? If you aren’t sure which account that is, you can see what other users are on the blog under Users > All Users in the blog’s dashboard.

If you’d like, you can also log in to that account and contact us directly with this contact form:

    Contact

Please let me know if you have any questions about that.

I was able to see the blog in my dashboard under the other ID. Didn’t realize that I didn’t have full admin rights to do everything. Does this new login help? It doesn’t show any cancel or refund buttons either.

Yep, djeaton is the account the domain is linked to. Can you please confirm that you’d like to cancel the renewal for the domain chromecastcentral.com? I can then cancel the renewal and issue you a refund for that.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes. Please cancel that renewal for the domain. I am not even going to renew the domain. Thanks.

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks for confirming. I just issued you a refund for that domain, and your domain upgrade is currently set to expire on August 5, 2014. (That domain upgrade is separate from your domain registration with your domain’s registrar.)

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)
