Register.com email dns

  Hello! I am still pretty confused about exactly what i need to enter into the DNS for adding my email. Can you please let me know how the process would be for register.com? I have the mx and name servers, but it said it was invalid.

  Don’t change the nameservers, that would direct your domain back to them and away from your WordPress.com blog.

  All you need is the MX records.

  Would you please post the MX records that you received here?

  This is what was sent to me from register.com:

  In C Name: mail.aegirboardworks.com points to: webmail03.register.com
  In MX: webmail03.register.com Priority: High mx05.register.com ; Medium mx06.register.com

  Ah, there’s quite a bit wrong there, they aren’t providing them in the standard format.

  The CNAME needs to be:

  CNAME mail webmail03.register.com.

  The MX records should be something like:

  MX 1 mx05.register.com.
  MX 5 mx06.register.com.

  Not above that they did not provide specific priority numbers, so I’m just guessing above. I recommend contacting them for the correct MX records.
