Registered domain incorrectly so I cancelled but now I can’t register it

I registered my domain thejamierae.com at wordpress.com but meant to use wordpress.org where my blog is. After I realized this I cancelled it but now it’s not available. I think I might have messed up and not sure how to correct it so it’s available again.

It is possible to use a domain at WordPress.com with another hosting provider, through the use of custom DNS settings.
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/custom-dns/
Because the domain may not become immediately available after deletion, this is a generally the recommend route – or transferring the domain.
