registering a domain name versus self-hosting. What does my $26.00/year pay for

  Registering your domain name versus self-hosting. I thought what I was paying $26/year for was self-housing, but am I only paying for registering the domain name? If that’s the case, what is the cost/year for self-hosting so that I’m not restricted to wordpress.com theme restrictions?

  Typically, self-hosting can cost between $50-200+ a year depending on your needs (I pay about $80 a year myself). And you will still need to register a domain name in order to have a self-hosted site. So that cost will not go away.
