Below is the conversation with letshost.ie I am trying to register my url with wordpress to start building a website. Can you please help ive been trying for days to get this to work

    sean
The DNS servers supplied are not authoritive for your domain. Please check with your hosting provider and try this change again. All change requests are checked in real time with the IEDR’s systems.
this is the message i get when im trying to link my website to wordpress. what am i doing wrong?
You are currently being served by
    LetsHost Support
    LetsHost Support
you need to ask wordpress.com to create the DNS zone for your domain before IEDR will accept the change
    sean
ok how do i do that
    LetsHost Support
actually, what are the name servers you are trying to apply?
    sean
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    and so on
    ND2 NS3
    LetsHost Support
yes, that is what you need to do. Contact support at wordpress.com
.ie domains unlike .com/org, are controlled by IEDR (the .ie domain registry)
they check that domain will resolve correctly in destination Name Servers before accepting the change
let wordpress.com know that and they will be able to setup the correct zone for your domain, once zone is setup you willl be able to update Name Servers

And do you have the domain mapping upgrade? It won’t work until you do.

I don’t have it. How do I get that?

    Thanks again

    Hi Sean,

A zone record has already been created. Please purchase the domain mapping upgrade and change the nameservers to ours:

    • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Please view the guide below for more information:

    Map an Existing Domain

I changed the DNS to the ones you listed above but every time I enter the URL and hit map this domain nothing happens? Do I need to wait for a certain amount of time or am I doing something wrong

You need to make sure you have taken all the required steps. There is no domain mapping upgrade for islandhopping.ie. If you would like to use this domain you will first need to set up domain mapping.

WordPress.com provides free blogs and free hosting for them. WordPress.com does not accept domain name transfers but mapping to an existing domain can be done.

Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year.

    Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually. In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

You need to change the nameservers to:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    Hi there,

It looks like you haven’t created a site yet. Can you please create a site by going to My Sites when you log into WordPress.com? Click here on the + link as seen here:

You will have a site with .wordpress.com at the end of it, but after you set up the site you can map your existing domain via the instructions @timethief provided you above.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
