Attempting to fix a problem with a lapsed domain name, re: site (jwaconsulting.wordpress.com). Have paid the bill with the registrar, domain name (jwaconsulting.com) is once again active, have confirmed nameservers are pointing to wordpress.com. However, in attempting to re-attach the domain name to the above site, I get the error message:
‘This domain was recently in use by someone else and is not available to map yet. Please try again later or contact support.’

Hi there,
That domain was mapped to your site by the user, helenapeace. Once a domain mapping upgrade is removed from a site, there’s a set period of time before any other username can map that same domain. We do this to prevent people hijacking domains, thus preventing the true owners from mapping the domain again.
As you’re the site owner, I can help you add the domain back sooner, but as your account does not currently own other domains you’ll need to purchase a plan at My Site ->Plans before I can do that – the option to add only a domain mapping does not exist for your account.
The user, helenapeace, should be able to add the mapping upgrade back without adding a plan, though, as that account does still currently own another domain.

Helenapeace isn’t with the company anymore, so I’ve upgraded to a paid plan. Let me know what’s next so that I can re-attach that domain name.

You don’t need to do anything else, thanks. I’ve added the domain mapping to your site and linked it up with your plan, and your site is now showing at that domain again. You might need to clear your browser cache before you’ll see the change.
If @helenapeace is no longer involved with the site I’d recommend removing them as a user. That account currently has admin permissions, so have full access to the site, including the ability to add new users and delete the entire site.
You can remove them by going to My Sites ->People.
