Releasing a blog name

  Hi… I used “mycouponinglife” without knowing that someone else owns an actual website by that name. I don’t think she’s mad, but would like me to relinquish ownership of my blog. I don’t mind but I don’t know how. Can anyone help?

  First off, I would create another blog and take all your content and move it over to the new blog. It is your content so don’t give it to them. All they might have claim to is the site name. Then delete all links, all posts, all pages. In other words, empty it out completely.

  Currently the blog transfer thing is disabled so you will have to wait till after staff have it back up and running to be able to transfer it over to the other person. The other person will have to set up a wordpress.com account and then give you their username so that you can transfer it to them.

  Looking at the mycuponinglife.com they would probably be a terms of Service violation here – you can move your content as noted above and then just set the site to private if you are worried about legal stuff – personally I would make them pay for the name or give them the middle finger – there are several variations on my web site name and we all seem to get along with no threats or taking someone’s site away from them.
