Releasing domain from another registrar

If I release a domain from another domain registrar, can I get wordpress to become the registrar? I want to avoid domain mapping.

If the domain is available for registration and it’s a domain that we sell, you can buy it here.
However, releasing a domain from a registrar is not a simple process. If you let a domain expire it will be at least 80 days before the domain becomes available again, and that’s only if the registrar doesn’t sell it at auction during the redemption phase, and someone doesn’t buy it via back-order the moment it’s released.
Most registrars also don’t immediately release cancelled domains. but either put them through a shorter redemption period or hold on to them until they expired and go through regular redemption.
If you have a domain and you still want to keep using it, the safest option is to keep it registered at the current or another provider, and map it here.

You can point it here using domain mapping only. But there is no way at present to completely transfer a domain to us from any other registrar.
