Removal of WordPress.com Blog Due to Copyright Infringement

Hello, I’m hoping someone can help. My client hired a company (whom they can no longer reach) to create some pages to help with their SEO ranking in Google. These pages were first created in late 2014. The company now needs those pages to be removed because they are a financial company and are now under legal obligation to meet compliance requirements, which those pages created for SEO purposes do not meet. Those pages use my client’s logo and old content that is no longer compliant, so we need to remove those pages. They have no idea how to contact the person that created the WordPress.com blog. Is there a way we can prove they are the legal owner of the logo and content so it can be removed? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove this blog and/or content? Thank you!

  • Hi there,

If you would like to formally report an instance of copyright infringement for material that you hold rights over, please follow the instructions at the link below to submit a DMCA notice identifying yourself as the copyright holder (or someone legally authorized to act on the behalf of the copyright holder):

Digital Millennium Copyright Act Notice (retired)

You can use this support page as a guide:

Copyright Infringement – What to Do

Please note that you are required to give consideration to whether a use of material is fair before submitting a takedown notification, as a result of the decision in Lenz v. Universal:

Additionally, be aware that your notice, including any contact information you have provided (address, telephone number, and email address), will be forwarded to the user who uploaded the material at issue.

    Thank you.
