Remove sidebar (About Me) from all pages except Home

  • Unknown's avatar

I want the About Me on my home page but it’s just taking up real estate on other pages. But I can’t find a way to manage it – there doesn’t appear to be an option in any settings to only have it appear on the home page, and deleting the sidebar from the individual page also deletes it from the home page. Is it tied to the template (Bitacora) and can’t be changed? I can’t even find an answer as to why – all related answers in the forum appear to relate to earlier or more advanced versions of WordPress than what I’m using now.

  • Good Morning-

The front page, or the first page, a visitor lands on when they come to your site can be indicated through a setting. Here are the instructions on how that works:

A homepage is the front door to your site. Using the steps in this guide, you can change your homepage to any page you’ve created. This setting works for any theme from our showcase. For your example, the About Me page can be set to the home page, and then you could remove that from the menu as well.

I can see that there’s a domain registered to your account. A hosting plan will allow you to connect that domain to the site you’re asking about. The personal plan is a popular starting point and is only $4/month. This will improve your SEO efforts and help you build a well rounded web presence.
