Removing An Old Email Address

  • Unknown's avatar

I do not have a WordPress blog, but subscribe to a few via email. My email has changed and I have changed this on my profile, but I keep getting ‘new post’ notifications to my old email address as well as the new one, how can I stop this?

  • Hi there,

At which email address are you receiving the notifications, and at which one should you be receiving them?

Place each email on its own line, and it will be hidden from public view, but I’ll still be able to see it.

old email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

new email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

I seem to be getting notifications on both.

  • Okay. The gmail address is the one connected to this username account. To manage notifications for this email, go to the Reader and click the Manage button top left next to Blogs I Follow. There you can change settings for individual sites you follow.

You can also manage your global notification settings from this page:

    https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/subscriptions/

For the talk21 address, log out of WordPress.com and clear your browser cache and cookies, or use a different browser where you’re not logged in, and visit this page:

    Status

Insert the email address on that page, and that will send a unique link to that email address. Open that link and you’ll be able to access the subscription settings for that email.

Please let me know if you need any more help with this.

Hello Kokkieh, thank you for the information, but nothing has worked for me. I cannot log into the WordPress account with my old email address at all, even after clearing all the cache and cookies, it keeps saying it is an unrecognised email address. So, I am still receiving blog notifications to my old email.

  • You won’t be able to log in with the old email, no. You instead need to click on the link that’s generated if you enter the old email on the subscribe.wordpress.com page.

That email is no longer connected to a WordPress.com account, so you need to use that link instead to access subscriptions for that email. Don’t click on any button that says Log In or Sign Up.
