Removing an old webpage

I have a new site with Worpress which we initiated last week. SINGING WITH MANY VOICES. COM The email address for this new account is

(email visible only to moderators and staff)

I had an account by the same name which I started a few years ago. It has the same name. But the email address for that is

(email visible only to moderators and staff)

When someone tries to access my new page (singingwithmanyvoices.com) they are sent to the old one (singingwithmanyvoices.wordpress.com). I cancelled that site last week using the (email visible only to moderators and staff) address. But when the page opens it says the site is closed at the customer’s request. This is true. How can we have the site completely unavailable so that one email address takes them to the one current account (singingwithmanyvoices.com)

    singingwithmanyvoices.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.

As far as I am aware that message will be displayed from now until the end of time/the Martians invade. Perhaps it may have been preferable to have set the old WordPress.com site to private as then it would remain hidden from search engines (when they eventually cleared their caches of course).
I have added the modlook tag to ask for advice from a member of staff to see if recovering the site and setting it to private would be the best course of action. (There is now a 30 day window to recover deleted sites).

Is there no other way to have it removed? I am not able to get the most out of my new webpage of the same name but I have a domain and a simple address: singingwithmanyvoices.com. I am supposed to be able to access to a chat line but somehow I am not able to d so regarding this problem. We need to find another option.

Rather than deleting it you could have upgraded your old wordpress.com site to the .com custom domain, keeping everything in the same place. A member of staff will reply in due course.

Thank you for replying to my last note.

I did transfer all the blogs to my new wordpress site. And then I deleted that site.
The old blogs are safe but my one concern is the message readers are getting when they go into singingwithmanyvoices.com

Thre has to be a way to undo the sign on the first site. I am already getting so many emails asking me why I stopped the blog.

Hi @joanpatenaude, when I go to https://singingwithmanyvoices.com/, I’m seeing a site with a blue-grey background, it does not take me to https://singingwithmanyvoices.wordpress.com/. If I go directly to https://singingwithmanyvoices.wordpress.com/, what I get is a “no longer available” page.

Are you by chance talking about when you click on a link to your site from a search engine?
