Removing domain – how to transfer domain?

    I recently removed by domain registered to my wordpress.com site, how do I transfer the domain to a new hosting provider (which is why I removed the domain from my site)? Technically I still own this domain, but I’m unsure of how to transfer it?

    Hey there,

    If you’re wanting to transfer your domain, you should never cancel it at your current host because once you decide to cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it. Also, it usually takes a few weeks for your domain registration to clear and become available once you cancel it. There isn’t an exact time, however, so you’ll be checking consistently to see when it becomes available.

    If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site

    I’ll be happy to contact the registrar to see if we can restore the domain back to your account, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to get the domain back.

    Hi Darnell,

    Thanks for your reply. Although it’s unlikely someone will attempt to acquire the domain name, if you could contract the registrar to see if you can reverse the domain removal request, I would appreciate it.
