Removing Extra Words or Taglines from posts

Hi all – I’m a total newbie here.

How do I get rid of the extra wordpress postings like “Posted at 2:53 am on September 18, 2011 | leave a comment | Filed Under: Uncategorized | read on”, or “Just another WordPress.com site”

I want very few words at all on my site, mostly just images, so right now there are more words from wordpress than from myself. I wan to change this, and am sure there must be an easy solution.

    Thanks for your help!

Please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question.

All blogs wearing the same theme here are using the same underlying template and we cannot edit themes and templates. Only staff can edit and every edit they make changes all blogs wearing the same theme.

If we have css editing experience we can change appearance only – not functionally.

    1. get rid of time and date stamps
If your concern is that the default time and date are being reflected you can set your own date and time zone here > Settings > General

If you don’t want the time and date to appear at all then if they can be hidden with CSS editing and you purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade you may be able to achieve that. But do note that permalink structure cannot be changed and every post (not page) will have the date included in the URL. In some themes pages (not posts) so have date stamps reflected. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/02/18/date-on-static-pages/

    2. disable comments
This page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
We can also overide the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any post or page.
When we close comments a phrase like “comments closed” or a similar phrase will appear and it can only be removed by CSS editing after purchasing a custom design upgrade.

    3. Filed Under: Uncategorized
Uncategoriezed is the default category that displays when you do not assign a category to a post (not page). It can only be hidden by CSS editing after purchasing a custom design upgrade.

    4. Just another WordPress.com blog
This Tagline can and the Blog Title be removed or changed to another at any time on this page > Settings > General.

Staff have provided help for those who want to structure their blog like a website. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

    What’s critical is:
    (1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
    (2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. But we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize our posts by assigning Categories to them. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories pages and Archives pages. Note: There must be one published post in each Category in order for there to be anything to display.

A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and custom links in your custom menu as well. You choose the order in which to display the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide. How to create a custom menu. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus

Also note that if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page for your site, and also create a “blog” page for your posts to display on, but that’s optional.
