  Hi there,

  That domain has already been removed from our system and is currently in redemption with our registrar. It is still possible for me to recover the domain at this point, but our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption. I’ll need you to agree to that fee before I can get the recovery process started.

  I’ve sent you a payment link via email. Once we receive payment I can email our registrar to restore the domain. Should the recovery fail, we’ll refund your payment in full.

  Thank you. I’ve emailed our registrar to ask them to restore the domain. I’ll let you know as soon as they reply – with redemption requests submitted over weekends that’s usually late on Monday or early on Tuesday.

  Thank you! From the bottom of my heart 🙏 And just to be clear, I do not want to restore the WordPress blog, I simply want that name back in my name for my website. Does that make sense?

  Once the domain is restored you can use it with any site you want, be it a different WordPress.com site, or a site somewhere else. You don’t need to use it with the WordPress.com site you’d been using it with before.

  Thank you so so much!!

  It appears that my domain is lock and cannot be moved to go daddy. Do you know how I can fix this?

  This sometimes happens if a domain is restored from redemption. I’ve emailed our registrar to ask them to remove the transfer lock from your domain.

  Meanwhile you can already point the domain to GoDaddy using their name servers or IP addresses instead. The link I gave above also has instructions for how to add those records. GoDaddy support will be able to tell you exactly which records you’d need.

  Our registrar has let me know that they’ve unlocked your domain, so you should now be able to transfer it. Please give GoDaddy the transfer code again, and this time it should go through.
