Renewing Five month expired address

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello All,

Five months ago the domain name I acquired through wordpress expired. That domain is http://paulbohannon.com. I am looking to renew the same domain. I am not seeing that it is taken…when I type that domain name into any browser on different computers, it simply gives a message saying the server is not responding. So it seems that the domain is still available, however I am unable to select that domain through the wordpress dashboard on the ‘renew’ page. Not sure why…

So how may I renew this domain?

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Hi there,

That domain was removed from our system in October 2018, and we no longer have any control over it.

It looks like someone else registered that domain via a dropcatch service (basically placing a domain on back-order so it’s bought for you the moment it becomes available again) once it was released, so they now own the domain:

    https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=paulbohannon.com

As you can see the new owner of the domain has indicated the domain is for sale, meaning the person who bought it is a domain squatter – people or organisations who buy expired domains in order to sell them back to the original owner at a profit.

If you want that domain back your only option is to buy it back from the current owner. But you should also be aware that many domain squatters are scam artists, so insist on using a reputable domain brokerage service to facilitate the transaction should you decide to proceed with this. We are not able to help you get this domain back.
