Renewing my domain name

I keep getting a notification that my domain is about to expire. I get this message:
‘The domain kathy-fish.com costs $18.00, and it is set to expire in 5 days, on November 8, 2016 . If this upgrade expires, your site will no longer be available at ‘kathy-fish.com’.
If you would like to keep the domain you should renew it immediately to avoid a late registration fee or losing it permanently when it expires.’
But when I click on the link it only offers me the upgrade, which costs more money. I am not interested in upgrading, only renewing. Also I believe you need my new credit card information, but I can’t see where/how to give this to you.

The issue is that the WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner of that upgrade.
Typically this happens because you ended up with a second WordPress.com user account at some point and THAT account is the one that was used to purchase the upgrade. You will need to log into that second account in order to renew the upgrade.

This is a generic answer that doesn’t address my question. Indeed I am logged into the correct account and with some searching, I found “Domain Settings” and this is what I found for the domain in question:
Type: Included with Site
Renews on: Never ExpiresMy sense is that this barrage of emails from WordPress, warning me my domain was “about to expire” and giving me a link that ONLY allows me to upgrade is a means of tricking customers into purchasing upgrades they neither require nor want. Not cool, WordPress.

I think I have figured this out. The domain name that WordPress is telling me is about to expire has been switched over to another domain server as I switched the site to WordPress.org.
So I keep getting notifications from WordPress.com and when I click on the link it takes me to the only domain name I have with WordPress.com (my other site and not the one they want me to renew). So even when I log OUT of the site, when I click on the link it asks me to log back in.
Very frustrating. How do I get WordPress. com to stop sending these emails about a domain that I no longer have with them?

It is not just a generic answer, I’m afraid. It is an accurate one.
The WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner of the kathy-fish.com domain registration. This is why you are unable to to renew it when you click the link. If you were logged into the WordPress.com user account that owned the domain registration you would be able to renew it.

I’m afraid this is only part of the story. You changed the domain’s nameservers to point to your new webhost. But the domain itself is still registered through WordPress.com, which is why you are being sent the renewal emails.
You have a second WordPress.com user account and THAT account is the owner of the domain. You must log into that account in order to renew the domain. Can you look at the email address that the notifications are being sent to? To be clear, this may be different than the address where they are arriving. So please look at the actual email to/from/subject lines to be sure. If it is a different email address than you are using to log into the account you are posting from, please try running it through the password recovery system:

If that does not work, let me know and we will see what else we can try.

I apologize profusely. You were right. I had to log out and log back into the other account and have successfully renewed my domain. Thank you for your patience and help.
