Replacing existing parent domain name with sub domain name
-
While creating a domain name last night, I moved away from wordpress momentarily to check on something else, returned to wordpress and the domain name I was working on somehow became my permanent site address. The site name: “john-lynchdotcom.worpress.com” is not what I wanted. I have since tried customizing the domain name as “john-lynch.com” but the prior, incorrect site name continues to display as the primary site. (I also renamed the primary site as “john-lynch.com”) My wish is to delete “john-lynchdotcom.wordpress.com” and replace it with the “john-lynch.com”. I welcome your recommendations.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I see you registered john-lynch.com. That is the address that your visitors will see when they visit your site.
The johnlynchdotcom.wordpress.com address is an internal address that was created when you registered the domain. We use that as a free, permanent site address to make sure you never lose your site’s content, even if you stop using your custom domain name. To make sure your domain registration for john-lynch.com goes through and there isn’t a conflict with a pre-existing site, the “dotcom” phrase is appended to the free site address.
If you wish to change your free WordPress.com address, you can do so by following these instructions: Changing a Blog Address
Keep in mind that this is purely for your benefit, as the WordPress.com name change will be invisible to the visitors to your site. Visitors will only see your custom domain name john-lynch.com.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
