Request timeout started happening last night at 8:30 PM…
-
Wordpress site was working fine without any issues. Yesterday at 11:00 AM, a single site origin plugin (so-widgets-bundle)updated. Everything continued to work without incident until 8:30 pm when all of a sudden the site is erroring out with the following error:
Request Timeout
This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase ‘Connection Timeout’.
I used channel file manager to change the plugin folder name from ‘so-widgets-bundle’ to ‘back_so-widgets-bundle’ to see if that fixes the issue. However, it does not and the request timeout error continues making the site unable to be accessed or administered.
No changes were made other than the automatic update of the so-widgets-bundle 10 hours earlier, so that does not appear to be the cause since 10 hours passed since it was updated until the problem occurred.
What do I do to fix this? No other changes were made.

Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website. However, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.
