Request to Delete an Old WordPress.com Blog – No Access to Original Account
-
Hello WordPress Support,
I am trying to regain access to an old WordPress.com blog that I created many years ago, with the sole purpose of permanently deleting it.
Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the email address that was originally associated with the account, and I cannot complete the normal account recovery process. After speaking with the support chatbot, I was advised to open a request here in the forum.
The blog in question is:
https://nilslog.wordpress.com/I am the original owner of this blog and would like to have it permanently deleted, as it contains personal information that I no longer wish to have publicly available.
I understand that you need to verify ownership before taking any action. I am happy to provide any information that could help confirm that I am the rightful owner, such as details about the blog, its content, the approximate creation period, or any other information you require.
Could you please let me know what information or proof you need from me to proceed?
Thank you very much for your assistance.
Kind regards,
NilsThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Nils,
The first step would be to try the Account Recovery form at https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery. You’ll want to fill in as much information as you can. To verify ownership, we’d need at least one of the following: a transaction ID from any past WordPress.com purchase, the activation URL or key from the original signup confirmation email, or a two-step authentication code if that was set up on the account. You can read the full details on what’s accepted in our guide here: https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/verify-ownership/
One tip that often helps: try searching your old email inboxes (including any you may have used years ago) for messages from WordPress.com. Even an old activation email from when the blog was first created could contain the key you need to prove ownership.
If it turns out that ownership can’t be established through that process, feel fee to contact us directly at passwordhelp@wordpress.com.
Go ahead and start with the Account Recovery form, and feel free to follow up in the email if that fails. Do not share any personal information in the forums. Thank you.
